Contour iSee case for iPhone
I recently visited my local Apple Store to purchase a case for my iPhone. I had used a leather “hip holster” in the past for my Treo but was not happy with the life of the case due to the belt clip pulling off, over time. My daughter has a Contour iSee case for her iPod and it has served her well. The new iSee case for iPhone has the clear plastic case for the phone and a snap-in holster for wearing on the belt. I thought this combination would work well for me so I purchased one. Alas, it is not the perfect case I hoped it would be. The fit of the case around the iPhone is just a bit loose - enough for the phone to move, with a little “click”, when the case is gently shaked or moved - not a big deal but annoying. The case does snap into the holster with a solid “snap”. Unfortunately the benefit of a tight fit makes it hard to get the phone out of the holster. The instructions say to lift the top tab/clip but this flexes the plastic - and is very hard to do with one hand. Its easier to grab and pull the phone - which takes considerable effort. The last issue I have with the iSee is one I knew before I picked it up. The plastic case adds considerable bulk to the phone. I thought I could live with this but it really detracts from the tactile comfort of holding it.
My conclusion is that the iSee is a nice case but not what I expected. I’m going to keep looking. I think I will end up with a holster as opposed to a case/cover. We’ll see…
